Sonego-Molcan today, Davis Cup 2022: timetable, TV channel, program, streaming

Sport

The men’s tennis weekend is completely dedicated to the 2022 Davis Cup playoffs. Twenty-four national teams will compete to access the group stage to be held next September; Filippo Volandri’s Italy will also take the field between today and tomorrow on the indoor hard court in Bratislava to face the hostess Slovakia as a favorite.

After the opening that will see Jannik Sinner and Norbert Gombos as protagonists, the second match of the day will cross Lorenzo Sonego, number 21 in the ATP rankings, and Alex Molcan, Slovak ‘captain’ with his 66th place in the world rankings. A growing player, who in the course of a year has gained more than 200 positions in the ranking and who last year took away the whim of playing the first career final in the major circuit, losing in Belgrade 2 to Novak Djokovic.

Sonego’s 2022, on the other hand, was not exactly sparkling: his best result dates back to the Buenos Aires tournament, with the semifinal lost in three sets to Diego Schwartzman. The Turin tennis player fails to break the top 20 wall: it would take an injection of confidence, which could give him Davis’ appointment.

Davis Cup 2022, Jannik Sinner opens the Slovakia-Italy match against Norbert Gombos

The match will be visible live on SuperTennis TV and live streaming on the SuperTennis website, on the SuperTenniX app (for subscribers) and on Sky Go.
