Ice hockey, ICE League 2022: Val Pusteria already in the quarterfinals, Bolzano forced to the pre-playoffs


The 2022 ICE Hockey League gets underway, with the start of the pre-playoffs that will kick off on Wednesday evening 2 March . After the completion of the regular season, in fact, the teams that finished from seventh to tenth place in the general ranking will open the post-season with the series at the best of 3 games.

Among these four teams we will see on the ice the HCB Südtirol Alperia which, after the significant problems related to Covid-19, has seen its ranking significantly worsen. Who, on the other hand, is already comfortably in the quarter-finals is Val Pusteria . The yellow-black team, in fact, thanks to a season finale in great growth, was able to catch the direct qualification and now awaits the start of its play-offs.

For the moment all the attention will be on these pre-playoffs in which the participants will all be of a high level. The team that finished the regular season in seventh place, HC Tesla Orli Znojmo, chose to challenge the Moser Medical Graz99ers (10) while the second pairing will even be the re-edition of the 2021 final, or the match between EC-KAC (8) and HCB Südtirol Alperia (9). Whoever wins these two challenges will reach the top six of the regular season to kick off the quarter-finals.

In the season, the balance between Klagenfurt and Bolzano speaks of 2 wins on each side, while in recent seasons the Play-offs have seen Bolzano win 4-2 in 2018, then 4-1 for EC KAC in 2019, while in the 2021 the final for the title again went to the Austrians 4-1. Bolzano is looking to make it to the quarter-finals for the ninth consecutive year.
