Poland snatches the pass for the 2022 World Cup. In the playoff final against Sweden , Czeslaw Michniewicz’s boys won 2-0 thanks to goals from Robert Lewandowski from a penalty and Piotrz Zielinski. For the home team it is worth noting the great performance of Wojciech Szczesny, author of a series of saves that kept the Polish goal clean.
After the first few minutes of study it was Sweden who came close to the advantage with Alexander Isak’s long-range effect shot. Wojciech Szczesny reaches out to his right and avoids the net with a great save. Poland continues to struggle and at 19 ‘risks again to concede the goal with a shot from the edge by Emil Forsberg: also in this case Szczesny is extraordinary and saves his team by sending the ball for a corner. The first half continues without major jolts and we arrive at the interval at 0-0.
Immediately after half-time, Janne Andersson’s boys became dangerous with a nice shot from Kulusevski, but once again Szczesny was not surprised and saved the shot from his former Juventus teammate. A minute passes and everything changes: Jasper Karlstrom commits a naivete and causes a penalty in favor of Poland. Lewandoski shows up on the spot and makes no mistake by shooting at the bottom right corner: 1-0.
Sweden try to respond first with Emil Forsberg to the lower left corner, but Szczesny is again phenomenal in thwarting the threat. Andersson’s boys continue to attack in search of a draw, but it is Poland that finds the way to the goal for the second time in the 73rd minute: Zielinski finds himself face to face with Robin Olsen and does not fail to double. Sweden can no longer react and Lewandowski and his teammates celebrate qualification for the World Cup in Qatar.
