A few hours separate the 24 teams entered from Brugge-De Panne 2022, a race renamed Minerva Classic for sponsorship reasons, now in its fifth edition. 206 kilometers that will be the setting for the Belgian event, probable a sprint finish but beware of any hand strikes in the final stretch.
The four climbs to De Moeren represent the key points of the race, there are no noteworthy altitude difficulties. After the first 72 km the runners will enter the final 45 km circuit to be covered three times, the wind is the main threat to the sprinters’ ambitions for success: if the sprinter teams can manage the race in the De Moeren area, the sprint is guaranteed.
Mark Cavendish (Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team), freshly triumphant at the Milan-Turin, enjoys the odds considering the good moment of form. The most formidable rivals for “Cannonball” seem to be Tim Merlier (Alpecin-Fenix) and Arnaud Démare (Groupama-FDJ), without forgetting past winners Dylan Groenewegen (BikeExchange) and Sam Bennett (Bora-Hansgrohe). The key to Italy can try Niccolò Bonifazio (TotalEnergies) and Davide Cimolai (Cofidis).
