Basketball, updated world rankings. Italy men 10th, women 15th. The United States is in charge

Sport

In February and March the world rankings for national selections were updated by FIBA . For women, the new ranking arrived on February 15, while the world championship qualifications are expected for men (March 9, to be exact). Let’s go and see the situation at the top and for what concerns Italy.

Before doing so, however, it should be noted that different weights are assigned to competitions based on various basic factors : the results of the games, the value of the opponent, the stage of the competition in question, the importance of the same and how long ago. has been disputed, up to 8 previous years. Basically, the results from 2014 onwards currently count, according to a system that in some ways recalls the OWGR of golf (which is however on a two-year basis, in addition to the fact that the comparison here is with an individual sport). Explanations are available in two PDFs issued by FIBA for both men and women .
