Basketball, Serie A 2022: Milan challenges Varese for redemption, Virtus Bologna hosts Reggio Emilia

The Serie A basketball championship continues. The 24th day will take place this weekend and the show will certainly not be lacking. Let’s go and see in detail all the matches of the weekend.

The program will open on Saturday at 6.15 pm with leaders Milan trying to redeem herself after last week’s defeat against Brescia. Varese will be on the road for the Milanese, fresh from the home fall against Pesaro for 76-87. Coach Ettore Messina’s team will start clearly favored, but be careful not to underestimate the commitment. At the end of the first match of the day, the match between Virtus Bologna and Reggio Emilia will be played. The team of coach Sergio Scariolo will arrive at this clash after the beautiful victory in the EuroCup on the field of Promitheas Patrasso for 61-83. However, the Black Vs will not have an easy time: Attilo Caja’s boys are really tough opponents (they currently occupy the fourth position with 24 points) and it will not be easy to defeat them.

Then moving on to Sunday we start with Naples-Brindisi at 17:00. Francesco Vitucci’s group has returned from a great success against Cremona for 87-65 and will be looking for a victory against a team in obvious difficulty (five defeats in the last five). It will then be up to Venice to take the field against Tortona (duo at 17:30) in a match that promises to be really interesting. On the one hand, the Venetians occupy the ninth place in the standings and in this 2022 they are trying to get back on top, while the Piedmontese are in fifth place and want to continue to amaze.

Sassari-Fortitudo Bologna will be played at 18:00. For the Sardinians it is an opportunity to rediscover the smile after two consecutive defeats. They will face the penultimate team of Serie A, fresh from the beautiful victory against Trieste. Piero Bucchi ‘s boys will start with the underdogs, but they won’t have to let their guard down. At 6:30 pm the Cremona-Treviso route will take off. It will be a very important challenge: the Lombards absolutely need a victory to continue hoping for salvation, while Treviso will go in search of success to get away from the hot zone of the standings.

At 19:30 the penultimate match of the day will see Pesaro and Brescia clash. The Lombards are the real revelation of this season and arrive at this match after the affirmation against Milan which earned them the 11th consecutive victory in Serie A. An incredible row that led Alessandro Magro’s boys up to third place. This Sunday Brescia will find Pesaro on its way, fresh from the beautiful victory against Varese and looking for other successes to escape from the last positions. Finally, the last meeting of the weekend sees the match between Trento and Trieste. It will be an interesting match, with two teams that will try at all costs to bring home heavy points (Trieste is currently 10th with 20 points, while Trento is 18th with 18).
