Athletics, Marcell Jacobs darting at the Italian Championships: assault on the record towards the World Cup?

Marcell Jacobs will be the great protagonist of the Italian Indoor Athletics Championships, scheduled for the weekend of 26-27 February at the PalaIndoor in Ancona. The 100-meter Olympic Champion will play his first race on national soil after the double apotheosis of Tokyo and a great party is expected in the capital of the Marche region, where the blue will want to do well and will try to continue the excellent path staged in recent weeks. The Lombard sprinter had stopped for six months following the five-circle seals, but during the winter he trained hard and the first three seasonal outings definitely convinced about the form of the Messiah of tricolor athletics.

Marcell Jacobs in fact amazed in the three meetings he took part in, always winning convincingly on 60 meters and with excellent chronometric results: 6.51 in Berlin, 6.49 in Lodz, 6.50 in Lievin . Exceptional constancy for the European distance champion, who lacked an optimal starting point to be able to further lower the time and push his Italian record (6.47 signed last year in Torun, when he won the continental title). The 27-year-old said that he will not show up in Ancona with the hassle of the stopwatch, but he will undoubtedly throw an eye on us as one of the seasonal goals is the European record (6.42).

Athletics, Italian Indoor Championships 2022: who will participate? Marcell Jacobs shines, waiting for Iapichino and the weight

Marcell Jacobs seems to have all the credentials to break the bank, to win the Italian flag and to amaze with a terrific time trial. The exit to the Absolutes will serve to take stock of the situation in view of the World Cup , scheduled in Belgrade (Serbia) over the weekend of 18-20 March. The world title is in the crosshairs, the competition will be fierce but the Olympic Champion no longer fears anyone and has already inflicted international lessons of absolute depth. We could see him again on the track before the trip to Slavic land, perhaps on March 2 in Madrid or March 7 in Belgrade: communications are expected from Paolo Camossi’s pupil.
