Tesla intervenes in support of the Ukrainian population, granting free recharging in the four cities on the border with the eastern country.
Tesla has ordered free recharging for cars that use the columns of four locations on the border with Ukraine . According to reports from the Palo Alto company, this is a move aimed at helping those who want to leave the country after the invasion of the Russian army, without affecting the costs of supply. At the moment, the stations involved in the initiative are those of Debrecen and Miskolc in Hungary, Košice in Slovakia and Trzebownisko in Poland.
“We hope that this will help the fugitives to reach a safe place” , reports the message sent to the customers of the Elon Musk car manufacturer to the customers of the countries concerned, who confirmed the activation to the specialized Teslarati portal. In 2021 the company began to make its stations in Europe compatible with vehicles of other brands. The Supercharger stations object of the choice made can therefore act as a power supply for any supported electric vehicle, even if made by different car manufacturers.
First time ever for a war conflict
The company formed by the visionary South African tycoon Elon Musk has often enabled the “free charge” at its columns during weather emergencies . However, this is an absolute first time in a context of military conflict . Although it does not operate directly in Ukraine, according to some projects that emerged in 2021, Tesla intended to land in the state soon, already establishing the stations for the installation of the columns.
Musk , who also holds the position of Chief executive officer of SpaceX (a space travel company), had publicly spoken in support of the local population a few days ago. In this case, he had responded to an appeal by the Deputy Prime Minister, Mykhailo Fedorov , to maintain internet connections through Starlink, the satellite service for which the entrepreneur has already sent various terminals necessary for the connection.
