With fuel constantly rising in price, a gas station strike was ordered as regards the night hours.
The rise in fuel prices sets the stage for the gasoline strike . From Monday 14 March the self-service systems will remain in the dark during the night: “We announced it a few days ago – says Enzo Nettis, president of Faib-Confesercenti , the association of operators – and now we are forced to do so. Petrol and diesel increase, but the revenue of the gas stations remains fixed: about 3 and a half cents per liter. On the other hand, the liters dispensed decrease due to the increase in prices and management costs increase “.
According to Nettis, the increase in electricity bills for the category “is 135%; in one year it would be 10,000 euros more for each one plant. Thus the very survival of many companies is put at risk. We are aware that our decision may cause some inconvenience to consumers, but they are also convinced that they have their solidarity, because we and they are equally victims of this situation “ .
“We wrote to parliamentarians to make the government aware of the need for immediate action that would allow everyone – gas station attendants , consumers, businesses – to at least mitigate the effects of an increasingly worrying phenomenon. We are outraged by the absolute indifference of the government , which cannot limit itself to making cash thanks to the increase in revenue due to VAT and various excise duties – adds Faib-Confesercenti -. It is precisely in terms of excise duties that we are launching a proposal, perhaps not decisive but certainly capable of alleviating the repercussions of the crisis : the government intervenes immediately by applying the provisions of law 244/07, on the subject of ‘mobile (or anti-cyclical) excise duty. ‘which allows, on the one hand, to sterilize the increases in taxation on fuels and, on the other, to create a minimum of stability for families and economic operators. As we can see – concludes Nettis -, the tools are there: there must also be political will ” .
