Ford: 7 new electric models by 2024 in Europe


Ford will increase its presence in Europe over the next few years, with seven new vehicles hitting dealerships.

Through a press conference in streaming, Ford announced some big news relating to commercial operations in Europe , where the future is fully electric.

The newly formed Ford Model division will launch 7 new plug and connected models in the Old Continent, including 3 crossovers and SUVs and 4 commercial vehicles, including mpv solutions for people transport – in support of the plan which provides for the registration of more than 600,000 green unit per year by 2026. In this context, the business unit will work alongside Ford Pro, the department specializing in commercial proposals.

To achieve the objectives, the joint venture established together with the Korean Sk On Co and the Turkish Koc Holdiong will play a decisive role. If the relevant authorizations are granted, the agreement will create one of the largest European plants dedicated to the production of EV batteries .

The plant will be located near Ankara and will feature NMC high-Nikel cells ready to be assembled in the appropriate modules by the middle of the decade. The annual capacity should be around the threshold between 30 and 45 gWh.

Ford of Europe President Stuart Rowley said, “Our march towards a 100% electric future is an absolute necessity for Ford. It is to meet the mobility needs of a changing Europe, but it is also based on the growing need to take care of the planet which is why we are committed to making a positive contribution to society by reducing emissions in in line with the Paris Climate Agreement “ .

Starting in 2023 , the Blue Oval will start construction of a new electric car, a medium crossover, in Cologne, Germany. A second EV will see the light in the same center in 2024 . Meanwhile, the EV version of the Puma , the best seller in our continent, will be manufactured in Craiova, Romania.

In addition, the Transit family of commercial vehicles will be expanded. From 2023 it will be time for the 1-ton Transit Custom Van and the Tourneo Custom, while from 2024 it will be the turn of the next generation of the smaller Transit Courier and Tourneo Courier.
