Bosch: investments planned for semiconductor production

Bosch has decided to tackle the long-standing semiconductor issue by increasing investments in the factory located in Reutlingen.

The German company has allocated 250 million euros to increase its investments in the production of semiconductors for automotive applications.

The plan includes an expansion of the plant’s production capacity with an additional 3,600 square meters of clean-room space.

Added to this is the construction of an energy plant and the construction of an additional building for power systems to serve the current and new structures that should come into operation in 2025.

The new investments are part of a broader strategy that has allocated, for 2022 alone, over 400 million euros to expand the factories in Dresden, Penang and Reutlingen.

Bosch, major investments for the Reutlingen factory

The Reutlingen factory, which employs 8,000 people in the production of chips on 150 and 200 mm wafers of electronic control units and eBikes, is one of Bosch’s manufacturing cornerstones in the semiconductor field.

Approximately 50 million euros are allocated to the latter, within a plan valid for 2021-2023 and aimed at increasing the area for clean rooms from 35,000 square meters to over 44,000 square meters by the end of 2025 .
